School Time!

Oh my, as I set here tonight and VENT about the whole school thing (seeing how tomorrow is the BIG day) so many things are running through my head.
My first born will start grade primary tomorrow at approximately 845am. 'gulp' SUCH a big day for my little monkey! I am a wreck tonight. Every possible good and bad thought is crossing my brain; what if nobody plays with him, eats lunch with him, doesn't show him where the bathroom is, he forgets where the bathroom is, eats all his lunch at recess, gets lost, gets made fun of, gets hurt, has an accident,..... (this list could go on and on; trust me).
I had convinced myself from the time he was born I was going to homeschool my child, but as the time got closer I decided this was not the best decision for Rocco. He NEEDS to be challenged. He is swift, keen, and incredibly intelligent. He picks up things so quickly. I did not think he would do well in the home environment. An extremely hard and tough decision; I reluctantly signed him up for public school, vowing I would pull him out the second something went wrong. Micah actually did it for me as the thought of school and my child freaked me out. How did this happen? It seems like yesterday I was pushing him around in a stroller?!! I remember laying in bed when he was 9 months old and balling over the fact that SOMEDAY (which is tomorrow) I will have to send him to school. The thought of school made me sick... In my head, when a 5 year old goes to school he loses all of his innocence. Mind you my child thinks "stupid" "fat" and "hate" are extremely BAD words!? Have I sheltered him too much? Have I done enough with him the last five years? Last week I found myself counting down the number of days left until school (happily), tonight I find myself FREAKING out a tad bit.... Can time slow down just a bit?? What will tomorrow bring, I find myself asking?? Not quite sure what the day has in store for us. He is my first baby going off to school, it is my (mommy's) first day too! As sick as I feel tonight, my baby is starting his first journey outside the nest. In the end it is good for both of us! I pray that I have taught him enough skills to adjust well to school and that his faith will remain grounded and strong. I KNOW he will do well and excel to the maximum, just going through this rite of passage FREAKS me out! Lending out your child for 6 hours of the day to someone I do not even know is A LOT of trust! I can not wait until 2:15 tomorrow afternoon when he runs to me with his open arms and I scoop him up and kiss his soft little cheek, what a nice feeling that will be! Baby steps....

Bed Wetting at 330am!

So my 3 year old has been going through some bed wetting issues lately...
In the last 2 weeks he has probably wet the bed 4 times! I should be putting a pull up on him, but he is not a fan!
The other morning I got my wake up call at approximately 335am. Poor little guy came running in our room all wet and flustered :( Usually I nudge Micah (cause that guy could sleep through anything), but it was my turn... So I quickly ripped off his pjs from his cold, wet body and ran the tub with some warm soapy water. Plunked him in and away I went to clean up his bed and toss his sheets down the stairs (of course to be washed in the morning). I felt like I was trying to race the clock. The quicker I did this, the sooner I would be resting back on my pillow for a couple more hours... sleeeeeep :) Something I am sure we could all use more of!?? Anyways, as I am running around my house trying not to be loud and realizing I still had hardly said a word to my poor little one, he looked up at me with some tears in his BIG brown eyes and said.... "Mommy, I love you SO much"
It then hit me, in all this craziness of rushing and being bothered, my son was teaching me a lesson. He was showing me gratitude and unconditional love, just like our father gives to us each and every day. Although I preferred to be in zzz land, tears poured down my cheeks as I sat on the toilet by my sweet little boy. Savour EVERY moment even if it is a 4am wake up call!

To lie or to fib? That is the question!

So today my very smart 5 year old Rocco, was trying to find my ipod to listen to. I use it for the gym or when I go for a run, so I do have to admit that there may be some inappropriate songs for a 5 year old or maybe even a 30 year old!! He particularly likes one song by pink, so I occasionally let him listen to it! So today he tells me he needs my ipod headphones to listen to his tag reader (leap frog) so it won't be SO loud.... RIGHT!! I tell him where the ipod is hiding so he could get the headphones... Turns out he wants the ipod! Anyways I asked him why he lied to me about needing the headphones for the tag reader...., "mommy, I wasn't lying, I was fibbing!" "please don't say I was lying, that is SO bad!". Is there really a difference between a lie and a fib? I guess it just sounds better!

CRaZY Week! Part 1

Do do you ever have crazy days my fellow bloggers??
Well this week has had more than 1 CrAzY day in it for me...
It was Micah's first week back to work in 13 weeks, which isn't that big of a deal. Although I truly missed his HELP (SOS) this week, it was nice to get back in to some sort of routine. He spoiled me rotten and many days I did not get dressed, let alone leave the house! It was an amazing and wonderful time, but now it was back to reality. My reality hit me Tuesday morning at approximately 613am when my 5 year old came running into our room explaining that our 3 year old had PEED the bed. Normally I would roll over and let daddy-doo handle that stuff, but I suddenly realized he was MISSING.... My hand slammed against his empty pillow. I thought where on earth is he at 614 AM??? Had he slept walked out of our room or had he fallen asleep on the couch after watching a late night DVR of UFC???!! Where was he??? Then it hit me.... it was his first "WORK" day and he was in the shower, getting all clean...
I guess I had to go tend to my little wet willy... Poor baba, was all wet, cold, and shivering. Bed wetting does not happen a lot around here, but man do I feel bad for him. Could you imagine waking up wet??? Yikes! So I cleaned him up, threw him in the bath tub, and did 2 loads of laundry all before..... 630 am??!! The last 13 weeks I never lifted my delicate little head out of bed before 8 am, "spoiled" I know!! But my man pulled through for me, like he always does... nice cup of my favorite java and a wonderful RUNNY egg waiting for me as I pushed my sorry butt up my stairs from the laundry room.
My littlest of babies LOVES to sleep and usually does not open an EYE until around 9:00am, JEALOUS... , which can pose a problem for a nursing mom, you got it... engorement. So away I went to "PUMP" This works out well because I am able to save all my extra milk and freeze it or Micah can use it if I sneak out in the evenings for some ALONE mommy time!!
Time to start feeding the troops, because those boys are STARVING in the morning. It is really the only time of the day they will eat WHATEVER I give them. I like to pack their breakfest full of protien and fruits. In between hearing "I REALLY miss daddy", "when will daddy be home" and "I want daddy" I managed to make another breakfest for my little buddy that comes at 800am. My sweet, adorable, hungry nephew, Cash. I watch him 2-3 days a week.
Fed, washed, cleaned the kitchen, finished up decorating 2 cakes and a couple dozen cupcakes, I packed up the troops and headed out. It was FAR too nice of a day to waste time inside, plus I had a delivery to make for 10am......

Penelope is the apple of our family's lives! She is sweet and quiet. She smiles all the time and we rarely hear a peep out of her. We are enjoying all the stages with her, as we know time goes by TOO quickly!

Penelope is an AWESOME baby! She is currently sleeping 7-8 hours a night (she is 6 weeks old) and has been since she was 16 days old! She is pleasant and calm and REALLY enjoys being held! None of us mind!
After 2 boys we were delighted to welcome a girl into our family. There are SO many NEW baby products on the market since I first had Rocco almost 5 years ago! (can NOT believe it has been 5 years!) Here are a couple I can NOT live without!

My very sweet friend sarah makes these nursing covers! They are AMAZING! They give you so much privacy when you are nursing on the go. The material is beautiful and breathable. Could not be without my peekaboob!

This is the BEST thing ever and I wish I had it with my other kids! It is the double medela breast pump. LOVE IT! It has helped SO much. I am able to produce more milk and store it or freeze it! I am able to go out with more freedom (babyless that is). I nurse her also. She has absolutely no problem going back and forth from bottle to breast. They can be pricey, but I was able to buy mine second hand at a GREAT price!

My brestfriend. It is a breastfeeding pillow which supports your back and encourages good posture while bf! LOVE IT! You can even walk around with it on while feeding your bambino! It also doubles good as a lap top holder! I first saw this product on the show 18 and counting on TLC. Mama Dugger wears it EVERYWHERE! If it works for her, I am sure it will work for you!

I decided to start blogging again, hopefully I will keep up with it! I am sure no one reads this blog anymore and has given up on me, but I will TRY once again to be faithful!

We are so happy to be expecting a new baby the first week in March! Lots of prayers appreciated as this is a nerve racking experience, but we trust that God will protect this little one and we will hold him/her in our arms in March!

We decided to have a picnic supper at Rainbow Haven beach a couple nights ago. It was such a beautiful day so when Micah came we we all hopped in the van and headed to Dartmouth. It was soooo beautiful and warm! The water was amazing, although Dawson was nervous, Rocco ran right in! This is what summer is all about!

Yesterday we headed down to the valley to pick some strawberries. We went to BoB Ansums U-pick. They actually owed us a flat from last year because they did not have boxes for us at the time and we ended up picking the strawberries and putting them in Sobeys green bags :S It was all worth it! So we picked 3 flats of strawberries.... I am now staring at them on my kitchen table and wondering what to do with them all!! Anyone have some good strawberry recipes??

Isaiah Matthew

My beloved Isaiah was born into the arms of Jesus on November 18, 2008. At 31 weeks I went into my regular scheduled doctors appointment to find out there was no heartbeat. My first words were.... "how could this happen...., no signs of anything...." I was in complete and utter shock. A grave sadness filled me from my toes to my eyes, tears streamed down my face like I was in a severe rainstorm. My hole body shook.... I had lost my third baby boy. There really are no words to describe the sadness I felt, I was not angry, just so so sad. Instantly I thought, how am I going to explain this to my very smart 3 year old Rocco. He was anticipating this baby month by month. The only thing I wanted to do was get on my knees and pray, pray, pray..... I needed a strength that I knew was only God given. Trying to understand this tramatic event was beyond my comprehension. He was the only one that truely understood what was going on. I had an overwheelming need for peace, and Jesus was my only answer. My sweet Isaiah was born on a cold snowy Tuesday evening. I had always told Rocco that his brother would soon arrive when the snow started falling. Tuesday November 18, it did indeed snow.... the first snow of the year, and his brother Isaiah was born. God is good and takes care of us when we are least expecting it. It gives me such peace to know that Isaiah is resting safe with Jesus. As Christian parents, our whole goal and prayer in life is to see our children give their hearts to Christ, my Isaiah has already fulfilled his destiny and is resting in the arms of our Savior, such a beautiful thought! God has given Micah and I such strength in such a difficult time. He has drawn us closer to him, and is teaching us daily of his unending faithfulness. There is not a day that goes by that I do not think of my precious baby boy, a piece of my family will be missing forever on this earth. My heart aches for my baby, and the tears that I cry are of sadness, but my baby fulfilled his mission in his very short life. I pray that Isaiah's story will be shared with many, and that his little life will bring many more people to their knees.

Last weekend we took a trip to the valley. After 3 weddings in one weekend, I needed a break! We went to Hennigars and Noggins. It was a cool day, but the boys had a lot of fun! All week Rocco has been asking to go back to the valley!

Rocco started preshcool today and he did soooo well. Not a tear was shed, although I do have to admit leaving the parking lot, my eyes were very full! He did great and had so much fun! He is growing up so fast, where does time go?

CBC Invest in Kids Concert

We went to see a live show on Saturday put on by CBC, and the highlight of the show was Curious George. The boys were thrilled as Curious George is considered to be a hero in our family. Dawson was so excited he could not stop screaming with joy, he was so cute. Rocco loved it too, but was cool as a cucumber. It was a fun time, plus the tickets were only $5.00 each, can't beat that deal!

Dawson is finally trying to stand on his own. All this time and he hasn't really been interested in standing too much. Today he figured out how to pull himself up on his knees in his crib and he was thrilled! So cute, he kept doing it for the longest time. No more leaving my very content baby in one place anymore.... he is on the move!

So sorry for slacking off with this blogging business..... A couple of weekends ago, Micah and I headed to Boston (no kids in tow) for a mini vacation / shopping trip. We got just about all of our Christmas shopping done... thank goodness. The dollar of course stayed true to the Canadians! We scooped up some fabulous deals and most importantly we had a blast!

We decided to have a Halloween party last night for some of Rocco's friends. Well there was 15 kids here and most of their parents.... so we had a house full, but it was a lot of fun! Rocco and Dawson also had a lot of fun treat or treating tonight in our subdivision. They were the talk of the street! Rocco had a blast and I don't think he will ever go to sleep tonight.... too much sugar!

We spent all day Saturday at the Atlantic Fall Fair. It was so much fun, Rocco could bearly walk out the exit doors to get to the car. He was exhausted! We saw all sorts of things as you can see. He loved the tractors the best though!

On Sunday we headed down to the valley to enjoy a beautiful fall day! We went through the corn maze! It was so much fun. Then that evening Arni and Elizabeth invited up to their house for supper which consisted of Ceasar salad, garlic bread, yummy lasagna, and to end it off with... apple crisp. It couldn't have been a more perfect day!

Well it has been a long week.... we have all been sick with colds. No fun :( I arrived home last saturday and although it was hard to leave my big sis and her new babe, I was so excited to get home and see Micah and Rocco! It was quite a rough ride home, but Daws and I did really well. The boys were very happy to see us!

My beautiful sister and her handsome husband Luke welcomed the most gorgeous little baby boy on Friday September 7, 2007 at 10:00 am. His name is Zachariah Lucas Day. He is the most precious baby, with lots of hair! I am a very proud auntie. Cindy and baby are doing very well and will hopefully coming home on Sunday. Daddy is doing well also! Yeah we are here in Medicine Hat and baby Day has still not arrived. He or she was obviously waiting for their favorite aunty to arrive! We are still anxiously awaiting. Cindy was due last Thursday and still no baby. It is very hot here, like almost 40 degrees, so Cin just wants this baby out. I am having a great time and so is Dawson. Dawson was an amazing traveller. We slept, ate, laughed, and never cried once on the plane. I sat beside two young guys and I knew they were not impressed to be sitting near a baby on the plane, but Dawson showed them. They even forgot there was a baby next to them... lol! What a little man! I am missing my other babies terribly though. Rocco and Micah seem to be having a blast. Love you guys so much, and missing you more than words can describe!

It was so nice out and seeing how Rocco just loves being around animals (hates it) Hatfeild farms seemed to be a fun choice. It started with a trip to the petting zoo but that turned into a "daddy hold Rocco" hour long intervention. Just as it was time to leave the petting zoo, Rocco was best friends with a pig and a little goat he called harley, the pig was called Mr Steve (who knows why).

Day 1 of week 1 of Rocco and Dad time

Our day started very early (before 530am) because we had to get mommy and Dawson to the airport to go see Auntie Cindy before she had her new baby. I forgot the camera but in a nut shell it was just a bunch of kissing and hugging and maybe crying. We went to nannie MacIsaac's for pancakes and then home for an early nap (so I hoped), the nap quickly turned into dumping out toys and running up and down the hall, I told Rocco to pick out some toys and we would go and learn about the real life version if we could today, of course he went right for the big ones.

You can see the keys were left in the ignition, Rocco was quick to turn the truck and the alarm on, then he cried.

He was really hoping a soccer game would come along and over take the baseball game ASAP, not a big fan

Although we had a great weekend with our friends and family, we made a huge breakthrough with Rocco! He is well on the road to being potty trained. We are so excited! It is the simple things in life that excite me now! He is doing excellent, and has only had 2 accidents in the last 3 days.... thank you Lord!

We decided to go to Yarmouth for Micah's week of vacation and join my mom and dad down there. We had an awesome time, no one wanted to leave and come home!

We went away to Yarmouth for the long weekend with a couple friends of ours. It was really fun. There was 6 adults and 8 children. It was a busy weekend, but everyone had a really good time!

A kitten showed up at our house the other night and he just won't go away! He keeps coming back and there is some little person in our house that just adores him. So our family is really growing!! Rocco calls him Teddy and plays with him all day.

We headed down to the fireworks the other night for bedford days! We had a lot of fun and ended up meeting Jen, Dean, Jaliee, and Jackson. Rocco was a little nervous at first, but did enjoy them. He calls it the big boom, boom!

It has been so hot here lately, you just can't stay in the house. We have been going for walks and heading to the playground everyday to try to cool down. Rocco enjoys being pushed around, while I sweat it out!

The other day I was on the phone and I looked over to see my child dressed very similar to how I looked earlier that day!! He was talking on the phone to his dad (pretending of course) and telling him that we were on the way to go grocery shopping at the Superstore, and then to the gym! Very cute, notice how well he has my sandles on!

Needles and check-up

Dawson had his four month old needles today, never a fun thing to do:( But we did find out that he weighs 14lbs 6oz and is 26 1/2 inches long! He is in the 95% for his height and 25% for his weight. Rocco also had a check up and he is 28lbs and 36 inches long. He is in the 90% for height and 25% for his weight! Growing babies!

Rocco's favorite food right now is peanut butter and jam sandwichs, which he just started making on his own. He is getting really good at it, but he enjoys eating the peanut butter off the knife more!
